I do however get to use stuff like images and extracts from (publicly available) manuals and so forth. This is my personal project and I receive no formal support or financing from Motorola Solutions. The purpose of this Blog is to assist Motorola Channel Partners (and whoever else may be interested) with various aspects of two-way radio communications. I'm married and have two teenage children - my wife is also a radio ham. This - in part - means that I have no interest in football (soccer) and think Asparagus and Schlager are equally distasteful. I was born in South Africa and moved to Germany in 2010. Initially, I wanted to go into radio broadcasting but I soon realized that in South Africa, there were limited career opportunities and I was no good as a DJ.

I got my ham license in 1989 and passed the Morse Code test in 1992. My interest in electronics led me into various hobbies like shortwave listening Hi-Fi Deejaying and eventually Amateur Radio. I've worked in the radio communications industry full-time since 1994. I started with (then) Motorola in 1998 and worked for several years as a technician before moving onto training and technical support. I know something but do not consider myself a TETRA expert - so don't get too excited. I mostly work with MOTOTRBO (DMR) and WAVE PTX (PoC) but sometimes get to play with other technologies like TETRA Video (Avigilon and Edesix mostly). I work for Motorola Solutions in Germany and help Motorola Channel Partners in Eastern Europe with all technical aspects of the technologies we sell.
